However, this fantastic progress is overshadowed by the side effects still suffered by many pediatric cancer survivors. To reduce these effects, specialized medical follow-up is necessary. This program aims to finance a long-term weekly consultation dedicated to all pediatric cancer survivors. It focuses on the early detection of potential side effects due to treatments, their anticipation, as well as prevention programs. The coordination of their follow-up at the HUG (Geneva University Hospitals) is often multidisciplinary involving cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, etc. The goal is also to improve the medical and social care of adolescent and young adult patients with cancer in Geneva, and guide them towards transitioning from standard adult oncology care. Finally, a third focus of this consultation is on the impact of pediatric cancer on fertility.
